Feed Track Part Sorting This feeder system sorts parts into separate feed lines based on their color. Random parts travel up from the feeder bowl and pass in front of a Balluff BFS 26K true color sensor. The color sensor has three individual outputs that have been taught the product colors. The sensor signals the product color to the PLC by activating the appropriate output. The PLC then signals the escapement to feed the part down the correct feed line. Pneumatic cylinder position sensors inform the PLC that the escapement is in the correct feed line position. Advantages of Balluff’s True Color Sensor Identify up to three colors:
Operation of the Balluff BFS 26K The Balluff BFS 26K sensor is a completely self-contained, ready to use color identification sensor. The sensor works by emitting a powerful white light detection beam. This light strikes the object and is reflected back to the patented Balluff receiver. The receiver separates the red, green and blue elements of the reflected light and compares them to predefined levels. The sensor easily learns those predefined levels. Tolerances can be established to accept only a specific color shade or to allow all shades of a particular color.
